Reverend Alton (Al) Paris

The Reverend Al Paris is a retired Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church.

He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas (BA Psycholoy 1977).

Ordained in 1981, he has served Methodist Congregations in Texas:

  • Plano - Hill Chapel (CME)
  • Whitewright - Western Beauty (CME)
  • Whiterock - St Paul (CME
  • Honey Grove - St. Paul (AME)
  • The Colony - Cornerstone (AME)
  • Denison - Quinn Chapel (AME)
  • Kaufman - Macedonia (AME).

Pastor Paris was the founding pastor of the Cornerstone African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in the Colony Texas. The late Presiding Elder Alto L. (AL) Brown was the Presiding Elder and the late Right Reverend Robert Lee Pruitt the Presiding Bishop.

Pastor Paris retired from Pastoral Ministry of the African Methodist Episcopal Church during the 2009 Annual Conference of the North Texas Conference, African Methodist Episcopal Church. as the Senior Pastor of the Macedonia AME Church of Kaufman after serving that congregation for twelve (12) years.

Reverend Paris is currently serving on the Ministerial Staff of the Wade Chapel AME Church of Hillsboro Texas where the Reverend Norman Baker is the Pastor.

During his pastoral ministry, Reverend Paris was a Bi-vocational Minister. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force (USAF) from the Korean War (1952) to Viet Nam (1972) working in the Radar Systems, Avionics Systems, and Precision Measuring Equipment career fields. During his tenure in the USAF, he served overseas tours in Thule Greenland, France and Germany

Retiring from the USAF in 1972, he was employed by Texas Instruments, Dallas (TI) for twenty-seven years as an Engineering Technician, Technicial Writer, Quality Assurance, Reliability and Maintainability Engineer. Retiring from TI in 1997, Reverend Paris then devoted full time to the gospel of Jesus, the Christ.

Reverend Paris responded to the call of God into the preaching ministry of the Lord Jesus, the Christ in 1981 at Hill Chapel CME Church of Plano Texas and liscensed to preach under the administration of the Reverend E.E. Jagours. He was subsequently ordained Deacon and Elder by the late Bishop C. D. Coleman, then presiding Bishop of the Eighth Episcopal District (Texas) of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church.

Having preached for more than thirty years and served twenty one years as a pastor, he is still active, preaching the Gospel

Reverend Al Paris is married to Sara Fields Paris and they are the parents of two grown children, Ms. Courtenay Ruth Paris and Mr. JohnPaul A. Paris. Reverend Paris also has two sons from his previous marriage to Mrs. Margie Lee Duncan Paris, Michael C Paris and Rodney M Paris.
